Service and Maintenance of Fire and Emergency Escape Doors
The Fire Certificate, issued by the Fire Service, which certified that your building complied with all the relevant fire safety legislation has been abolished, leaving the proof of compliance in the hands of the building owner or “responsible person”. Rather than inspecting the building/s and issuing the certificates, The Fire & Rescue Authority (FRA), as the enforcing authority under the Fire Safety Order (FSO), now perform spot checks to ensure compliance with the new regulations.
The FSO places a duty on a ‘responsible person’ (usually the owner, employer or occupier) to carry out a fire ‘Risk Assessment’ (RA). Under the FSO, the ‘responsible person/s’ are required, following the RA, to implement appropriate fire safety measures to minimise the risk to life from fire. RA’s need to be up-to-date by reviewing on a regular basis and reflect any changes that may occur. Failure to do so could result in a court order and may invalidate any building insurance.
An important part of the risk assessment is to ensure that all the fire and emergency escape doors meet the required standards. This is where DRS Entrance Systems Ltd can help.
With a service/maintenance contract in place, DRS will ensure that all your fire and emergency escape doors are well maintained and in a good working order.
We are ISO 9001:2008 accredited as well as being Associate Members of the ADSA.
As a responsible contractor we also ensure that we meet the demands of our own, and our customer and clients high expectations of Health and Safety requirements.
